Storm Mountain Technical Services Inc. is an avalanche risk management company. Founded in 1997, our team of Qualified Avalanche Professionals specialize in snow avalanche risk management and mountain safety services for industry. For the past nineteen years, Storm Mountain has developed and managed the largest private sector avalanche risk management programs in Canada.

The Storm Mountain team is comprised of Qualified Practicing Avalanche Professionals and certified mountain guides that bring years of practical experience honed from forecasting avalanche hazard in some of the most isolated and dangerous mountain terrain in the world.

Our clients work in a diverse range of industries from transportation, mining and exploration to scientific research. Many of these companies operate year-round in remote mountainous regions of British Columbia and require highly individualized avalanche planning, procedures and protocols.

We understand the importance of both economic flow for our clients and safety for personnel working in avalanche terrain. Our goal is to provide avalanche hazard management systems to our clients that ensure workers’ safety while minimizing disruptions to transportation routes and operations. We accomplish this through a highly qualified team of avalanche professionals with a strong foundation in avalanche hazard forecasting across all of Western Canada’s geo-climatic regions. Our risk assessment process incorporates intimate knowledge of terrain features and variations in snow cover to fully understand the hazards associated with avalanche paths so scientists, engineers, surveyors and other personnel may work safely in danger zones.

Storm Mtn provided our BC Rail operations with outstanding avalanche hazard management services between 1998 to 2007. Greg and his team of avalanche professionals were always enhancing our avalanche program to ensure we had the least amount of avalanche related disruptions and down time. Their monitoring and maintenance of avalanche hazard and annual avalanche search and rescue training, provided our personnel and contractors with a safe work environment. It was a pleasure working with Storm Mtn.
